A Cartoon Rendering of Our Intrepid BloggerMy name is Jayson Vantuyl, and I've been coding since I was teeny-tiny.  My first computer was a Commodore Vic-20.

I like real algorithms, real data structures, and solid solutions.  I often get classified as a perfectionist approximately a year before people end up doing what I told them to in the first place, usually claiming that it's their next great idea.  As long as they don't put me out of business figuring it out, I generally consider it to be a training investment.

Until recently, I was Founder and Architect at Engine Yard, a Cloud company that has had quite some success with Rails and Ruby.  I'm now moving on to other things, but I can't recommend Engine Yard enough.  It's amazing what you can do with good people, good technology, and a little venture capital.

I live in sunny San Francisco.  That might be a lie, at least the sunny part.  When I'm not coding I like hanging with my kids and riding my motorcycle.  If you're more interested in me than my code, my personal blog (along with some old technical articles) is still out there.
